Hi families,
Today students were responsible for bringing in a layout design for their brochure on one Southern state. This acted as a plan to help students organize their brochure and make sure they had space for all of the necessary information, as outlined by the direction sheet. I conferenced with most students and we evaluated whether or not they had all of the necessary sections, and revised as necessary.
Tomorrow I will be giving the students a piece of card stock, which we will use as our final draft paper (it's a thicker material and holds up better than the computer paper). Once the students have the paper, it is their job to use their research and layout design to create their final brochure. This will be done for homework and due Thursday, January 28.
We will still have other homework each night, so I would suggest doing a little bit at a time and spreading it out across the week. Students will also be sharing their brochures with a small group of classmates and graded on their oral presentation. Students have a copy of the rubric for both the brochure and oral presentation.
I am looking forward to seeing how creative, neat and accurate these brochures are!
Please let me know if you or your child have any questions.
Thanks!
Miss Leifer
