Non-fiction December

Hello families!

Did you know that December is non-fiction month in room 327? Are you ready for a challenge? Our class certainly is!

Today, in order to inspire an interest in non-fiction and to make sure that we are reading diverse genres, we made ourselves a reading challenge. Students decided that between now and Winter break they would commit to reading 125 non-fiction books as a class. That's an average of 5 non-fiction books per student!  We will set up a chart in order to keep track of our reading and post it in the classroom. Along the way we'll be able to discuss information that we have learned from these texts, explore the non-fiction text structures and write in response to our reading! Lots of fun to be had.

Please feel free to read non-fiction texts with your child at home. Any texts on the December reading log count, along with texts read in school.
